ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  1. PREAMBLE
    The undergraduate programmes are specially designed for junior and middle management staff of organizations to effectively meet the leadership, management and administration challenges of the global situation.
    Within the broad framework of the Institute’s mandate, the undergraduate degree programme aims at equipping participants with basic tools for analytical thinking, good judgment, entrepreneurship, leadership and other critical managerial skills required by the new generation of managers.
  2. EMPLOYMENT PROSPECTS OF GRADUATES
    The courses offered in this programme have been well chosen to reflect areas of critical manpower needs of the Country. It is expected that more than 60% of participants will be in gainful employment already. GIMPA’s main focus is to build capacity of prospective middle level executives – the content and structure of the programme are such that they will prepare students to readily do their jobs and to fit unemployed mature students into the job market or start their own business.
  3. BACHELORS’ DEGREE PROGRAMMES OFFERED AND ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

3.1    The following ten (10) Bachelor’s degree programmes are available to interested applicants.
  • Bachelor of Accounting
  • Bachelor of Accounting and Finance
  • Bachelor of Banking and Finance
  • Bachelor of Business Administration
  • Bachelor of Economics
  • Bachelor of Entrepreneurship
  • Bachelor of Hospitality Management
  • Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology
  • Bachelor of Marketing
  • Bachelor of Public Administration
3.2   ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
3.2.1   With the exception of Information and Communication Technology degree, all applicants should have attained a minimum age of 25 years at the time of application and must have worked for at least 3 years by the time of application.
3.2.2   Post-Secondary Certification from a recognized institution, plus a minimum of three (3) years post qualification experience, OR       GCE “A’ Level passed in three subjects plus a pass in General Paper, OR
An aggregate score of 24 or better including Core Mathematics, Core Science and Core English in the WAEC Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination  (SSSCE) plus a minimum of three (3) years working experience.
3.2.3   GIMPA Certificate in Administration and Management (CAM) with an average score of not less than 55 percent.
3.2.4   RSA Stage II in five subjects, which must include English Language and Mathematics or its equivalent, plus RSA Stage III in not less than 2 subjects.
3.2.5   Special Entrants. Products of Polytechnics and other non-university tertiary schools with a 3-year Diploma (eg. HND) may be considered for admission. Such candidates may be granted relevant exemptions of not more than 8 subjects.
3.2.6   Mature Applicants: Mature candidates applying for admission must have reasonable education and working experience and should have attained a minimum age of twenty-five (25) years at the time of submitting the application. All mature students will write the Mature Students Entrance Examination and pass a selection interview.
The examination, covers:
i.   Quantitative Methods
ii.  English and
iii. General studies equivalent to SSS level.
The examinations must be passed at 50% in all three subjects before a candidate will be invited to the selection interview.
4.0   PROCEDURE
Application should be made on the prescribed forms obtainable from the Institute. Completed application forms should be submitted together with four passport photographs, certified copies of certificates, academic transcripts and the prescribed processing fee on the date indicated.
