A GLANCE AT THE GIMPA PUBLIC SERVICES SCHOOL (GPSS)GIMPA’s Public Services School (GPSS) was established on January 01 2005 with a mandate to provide a broad range of services to Ghana’s public services with specific attention to the Civil Service. This is to he pursued with special reference to all of GIMPA’s original mandates. As part of its on-going development, GPSS is responsible for the effective operations of the GIMPA Gender Development, ResourceCenter and the GIMPA French Laboratory. This Center has among its core functions to promote gender equality and mainstream gender issues into GIMPA’s corporate governance. GPSS has been established with responsibilities to :
GPSS uses the best mode of delivery in Sub-Saharan Africa and maintain its competitive advantage above all non-African training institutions when it comes to building the capacity of the public sector in Ghana. Dean Department: GIMPA Public Services School Mr. Pratt is a communication specialist with interest in Public Relations. He has almost 30 years experience working in the Public Sector. He came to GIMPA from the New Times Corporation where he was the Managing Director. He also worked at the Ghana National Procurement Agency for 16 years where he held various positions as Public Relations Manager, Personnel Manager, Senior Administrative Manager and Chief Manager and Head, Marketing Department. He also served as President of the Institute of Public Relations Ghana, Member of the National Media Commission, and currently Member of the Governing Council of the African University College of Communication in addition to his extensive media work. He has been a lecturer at the Ghana Institute of Journalism, adjunct faculty lecturer at Central University College, School of Communication Studies of the University of Ghana, Institute of Local Government Studies, among others. His research interests include Media in Emerging nations, Press and Foreign Policy, Media and Governance Systems - Public Relations and Management, and Public Sector Communication. PROFILEName: Mr. Bright Oduro-Kwateng Position: Senior Lecturer Department: GIMPA Public Services School (GPSS) Bright Oduro-Kwateng is currently a senior lecturer at GPSS with the responsibility of Coordinating the GPSS Post-Graduate Diploma in Public Administration, Senior Management Development Programme and the Manager of the GIMPA Gender Development and Resource Centre. Bright Oduro-Kwateng has extensive experience in both academia and public service. He was employed by University of Greenwich as an Economics Lecturer for six (6) years, specializing in economic planning in the third world, sustainable economic Development and Political economy. Bright joined the U.K Local Government from academia and worked as a Senior Manager in several positions leading to the level of Executive Director with responsibility for Economic Regeneration, Performance Management, Operations Management, Gender Equalities, Diversity and Change Management. Mr. Bright Oduro-Kwateng has over ten (10) years extensive working experience in Public Service with specialty in Operations Management, Performance Management in Public Service delivery, Gender Mainstreaming, Human Resource and Organizational Behaviour and Project Planning and Management. PROFILEName: Mr. T. S. P. N’yel Position: Lecturer Department: GIMPA Public Services School (GPSS) AREAS OF SPECIALISATION
He has been a Lecturer and Administrator in the Public Services for 36 years.
PROFILEName: Mr. Kofi Ocran Position: Lecturer Department: GIMPA Public Services School (GPSS) Mr. Kofi Arkaah-Ocran is a public sector specialist. He was a pioneer staff of the National Revenue Secretariat which was set up in 1985 to overhaul Ghana’s Tax Administration Agencies. He was part of the project team put in place in 1987 to coordinate Ghana’s Structural Adjustment Programme. His career also includes work at the Ministry of Finance, first as Senior Economic Officer and, at later period, Technical Coordinator in the Chief Director’s Office in which role he directly assisted the Chief Director on range of technical /policy issues. In 2003-2004, he actively participated in public sector reform work under the National Institutional Renewal Programme. After three years of work as a monitoring and evaluation specialist with the National Governance Programme he joined GIMPA. His research areas include Public Sector Economics and Tax Policy. |
