Accra, July 28, 2025 — In a significant step towards deepening digital learning and instructional excellence, faculty and administrators of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) participated in a comprehensive Learning Management System (LMS) training sessions on Monday, 28th July 2025, and Tuesday 5th August 2025.
The trainings, held virtually, were aimed at strengthening participants’ capacity to deliver and manage learner-centered instruction using GIMPA’s LMS. With the new academic year ahead, the sessions were intentionally scheduled before the mid-year break to ensure that staff would return from the holidays better equipped to design, deliver, and manage online and blended courses.
Speaking ahead of the training, Professor Ebenezer Adaku, Deputy Rector of GIMPA, commended the initiative and reiterated management’s commitment to enhancing digital learning infrastructure and capacity across the institute.
The session was led by Dr. Nana Assyne, who served as the project lead, ensuring smooth coordination and alignment with institutional goals. Mr. Samuel Attah facilitated the session, walking participants through hands-on LMS features including course content upload, quiz creation, learner tracking, and student engagement tools. Mr. Daniel Apuri provided critical technical assistance that enabled participants to follow the training seamlessly.
Participants were encouraged to approach the training with a student-centered mindset—viewing the LMS not just as a tool, but as a platform to transform learning experiences.
The training was well attended by faculty across all GIMPA schools and departments, with active engagement, questions, and real-time exercises demonstrating a strong appetite for digital teaching enhancement.
“This training is part of a broader roadmap to position GIMPA as a leader in digitally enabled learning in Ghana and beyond,” said Dr. Joseph Budu, Head of the GIMPA Hub for Teaching and Learning and convener of the session. “We are building a culture of intentional, technology-supported pedagogy that centers students while empowering faculty”, Mr. Solomon Dartey, Director of Information Management Services at GIMPA, also reiterated.
GIMPA remains committed to continuous capacity building and innovation in teaching and learning. Follow-up sessions and advanced clinics are being planned to provide ongoing support for faculty in their use of the LMS.
