A renewed commitment to institutional development and alumni engagement was demonstrated with the unveiling of a refurbished Main Reception at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), a project undertaken through the generosity and support of the GIMPA Alumni Association.
The ceremony brought together members of management, alumni, staff, and distinguished guests to officially commission the newly upgraded facility, which is expected to enhance the experience of visitors, prospective students, and stakeholders who engage with the Institute.
Representing the Rector of GIMPA, Prof. Samuel Kwaku Bonsu, the Deputy Rector, Prof. Ebenezer Adaku, expressed appreciation to the Alumni Association for its initiative and contribution towards improving the image and infrastructure of the institution.
He described the project as a reflection of the strong partnership between GIMPA and its alumni community, emphasizing the important role alumni play in supporting the growth and sustainability of higher education institutions.
“Leading universities around the world have benefited greatly from the active involvement of their alumni communities. We believe GIMPA’s alumni can also contribute significantly through their resources, expertise, networks, and commitment to the continued transformation of the Institute,” he said.
Prof. Adaku assured the Alumni Association that the facility would be maintained to the highest standards, noting that preserving such contributions is essential to ensuring that they continue to benefit present and future generations.
Speaking on behalf of the Guest of Honour, Mr. Kwame Prosper Pia, who was unable to attend due to another engagement, Madam Morleen expressed his gratitude to the Alumni Association for the opportunity to support the project.
She explained that the decision to refurbish the reception was motivated by a desire to give back to an institution that contributed significantly to shaping his career, character, and professional journey.
“This refurbished reception is more than a facelift. It is a statement of pride, progress, and excellence. It reflects our collective responsibility to contribute to the growth and advancement of an institution that has impacted many lives,” she said.
She encouraged alumni, students, and staff to continue seeing themselves as key stakeholders in the Institute’s development, stressing that contributions through infrastructure projects, scholarships, mentorship, and other initiatives can create meaningful and lasting impact.
A former President of the GIMPA Alumni Association also commended the initiative, describing the refurbished reception as an example of what can be achieved when alumni across generations unite in support of their alma mater.
He noted that the reception serves as the first point of interaction for many visitors and represents the Institute’s identity, standards, and commitment to professionalism.
“An alumni association thrives on continuity, unity, and a shared commitment to giving back. This project demonstrates the impact of alumni engagement and the importance of investing in the future of our institution,” he stated.
Speakers at the ceremony further emphasized the importance of collaboration and collective responsibility in advancing the Institute’s transformation agenda, encouraging stakeholders to continue supporting initiatives that promote excellence and sustainable growth.
The event concluded with the dedication and blessing of the refurbished facility, alongside appreciation from management to the Alumni Association, project team, contractors, and all stakeholders who contributed to the successful completion of the project.
The unveiling marks a significant milestone in strengthening the relationship between GIMPA and its alumni community, reaffirming a shared commitment to building a legacy of excellence, collaboration, and institutional advancement.
