KOICA Youth Leaders Programme First Cohort Ends at GIMPA.

The two-week KOICA Youth Leaders Programme has successfully ended at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), bringing together 91 young public-sector leaders from Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon and Senegal.

Organised in partnership with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and Hallym University, the programme provided participants with opportunities to strengthen their leadership skills, exchange knowledge and build networks across countries.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, GIMPA Deputy Rector, Prof. Ebenezer Adaku, described the programme as an important investment in Africa’s future and stressed the need for quality leadership to drive the continent’s development.

KOICA Ghana Country Director, Mr. Dong Wan Koo, congratulated the participants and encouraged them to apply the knowledge gained and maintain the connections established during the programme.

Representing the trainees, Senegalese participant Babacar Samang Cisse urged young Africans to move beyond being described as the future and take action as leaders of the present. He highlighted collaboration, innovation, artificial intelligence and digital technology as important tools for creating meaningful impact.

Certificates were presented to participants who successfully completed the Public Sector track by Prof. Ki-won Young, Dean of the Graduate School of Global Cooperation at Hallym University, and Mr. Dong Wan Koo.

The programme concluded with a dinner and a celebration involving participants, facilitators, partner institutions and distinguished guests.

As participants returned to their respective countries, the programme left them with a shared responsibility—to turn knowledge and networks into practical solutions that contribute to Africa’s development.
