The School of Public Service and Governance (SPSG) at GIMPA has officially launched its Special Initiatives Framework for the 2026/2027 academic year, marking a strategic transition from isolated projects to an integrated portfolio of twelve specialized committees. Operating under the theme “Transforming Public Service for Impact: Innovation, Evidence, and Leadership for National Development,” the framework establishes a centralized governance model overseen by a Steering and Coordinating Committee. This initiative ensures every academic and administrative drive carries clear ownership, defined mandates, and measurable deliverables aimed at elevating national public governance.
Emphasizing the transformative potential of the framework during the inaugural address, the Deputy Rector highlighted the initiative’s broader vision, stating, “Today, therefore, we are not merely inaugurating committees. Indeed, we are inaugurating instruments of institutional purpose.” This commitment underpins SPSG’s strategy to bridge academic research with actionable policy, asserting that institutional quality rests on the integrity, competence, and deliberate engagement of its leadership and faculty.
To drive evidence-based governance and public dialogue, the framework combines rigorous research outputs with high-level stakeholder platforms. A National Survey and Policy Polling Committee will generate empirical data to inform national policy briefs published by a dedicated editorial board. These insights will directly feed into public forums, including the Dean’s Distinguished Lecture Series and the Public Service Leadership Dialogue. Internal institutional milestones, student achievements, and academic progress will also be recorded quarterly through the SPSG Pulse newsletter.
Beyond policy outreach, the framework heavily prioritizes student leadership, alumni partnership, and institutional growth. The NESGoV 2027 National Student Summit will convene emerging leaders for a three-day dialogue, complemented by comprehensive tracer studies to measure graduate outcomes. Alumni will be integrated into ongoing mentorship and school development through a dedicated alumni engagement committee. Operational success across all initiatives will be bolstered by specialized committees handling resource mobilization, media strategy, and the upcoming inauguration of the Department of Global Health and Sustainability Development. Through this structure, SPSG reinforces its mandate as a primary engine for evidence-driven national progress.
