The Deputy Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Professor Ebenezer Adaku has paid a courtesy call on the Municipal Chief Executive of the Ayawaso West Municipality, Hon. Dr. Michael Mensah to discuss collaborations between the Assembly and GIMPA on the possibility of bringing research to industries and SMEs within the Ayawaso West Municipal Area.
Professor Adaku shared GIMPA’s vision of establishing an ecosystem built on the foundation of research, trainings and collaborations between GIMPA and the municipality with Dr. Mensah.
“GIMPA has one of the best Business Schools in the country and the West African Sub Region. How can we lend the research and insights of our faculty to these SMEs and their industries? Some of our people are publishing research in top journals not only in Ghana, but in America, Europe, and these continents are benefitting from it. We can do the same for our people where they benefit from the insights of our research,” said Prof. Adaku.
He also emphasised the significance of GIMPA as the research hub driving the economic engine of Ayawaso West, noting that its presence would transform the Municipality into a more vibrant economic centre. According to him, this would attract highly skilled professionals, since everyone would want to work and live within the Municipality.
Dr. Mensah in turn commended GIMPA for taking the initiative to first establish a rapport with the Municipality and for coming up with the novelty of partnering with the Assembly to bring development and economic growth to the Municipality through research. He pledged the Assembly’s readiness to partner with GIMPA in bringing research and industry together to advance the economic outlook of Ayawaso West.
In addition, he encouraged GIMPA to continue to support the Municipal Assembly’s efforts towards security and safety measures in the GIMPA area.
Discussions also centred on the various schools at GIMPA including the newly established School of Creative Arts and Enterprise Leadership created to bridge the entrepreneurial gap in the creative industry.
GIMPA looks forward to sharing its concept note and strategy for this partnership with the Assembly and the onward execution of the agreed upon strategy.
