GIMPA Business School Hosts Distinguished Alumni Lecture on AI and Industry Leadership.

The GIMPA Business School (GBS) has held its 2026 Distinguished Alumni Lecture Series at the GB Auditorium, focusing on the theme “Shaping Tomorrow’s Leaders: The Role of Artificial Intelligence, Industry and Business Schools in Enterprise Development.”

The event brought together students, faculty, alumni, and key stakeholders for insightful discussions on leadership and business in an increasingly technology driven world.

Delivering the keynote address, Mrs. Matilda Asante-Asiedu, Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana and a GIMPA alumna, highlighted the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in reshaping industries and improving decision-making processes. She urged future leaders to embrace AI as a critical tool for innovation and competitiveness.

Other speakers included the Dean of GIMPA Business School, Prof. Bernard Acquah; the Rector of GIMPA, Prof. Samuel Bonsu; Nana Dr. Appiagyie Dankwasoso I, Senior Advisor on Corporate Governance and Public Policy; and the President of the GIMPA Business School Students’ Association (GIBSA), Madam Millicent Nana Serwaa Asafo-Adjaye.

Discussions at the event centered on the growing influence of AI across sectors, with speakers emphasizing the need for innovation, adaptability, and continuous learning. They underscored the responsibility of business schools to equip students with the technological and entrepreneurial skills required to thrive in a rapidly evolving global economy.

In his remarks, Prof. Samuel Bonsu noted that the GIBSA Week celebration goes beyond a routine student activity, describing it as a platform for reflection, growth, and strategic thinking. He encouraged students to see themselves as job creators, innovators, and transformative leaders capable of driving societal change. While acknowledging the impact of technology, he stressed that strong values and the right mindset remain essential in shaping the future.

Prof. Bernard Acquah also outlined ongoing efforts by the Business School to reposition its curriculum by integrating digital transformation, sustainability, and entrepreneurship. According to him, the initiative aims to ensure that GIMPA graduates are not only employable but globally competitive and future-ready. He called on alumni and stakeholders to support the school’s vision.

The Distinguished Alumni Lecture Series continues to serve as a strategic platform for strengthening alumni engagement while enhancing GIMPA’s reputation as a centre of excellence in leadership development and intellectual discourse.

The 2026 edition reinforced the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and highlighted the critical role of artificial intelligence, industry collaboration, and business education in preparing the next generation of leaders.
