GIMPA International Students Experience Accra’s Rich Culture During OIPD Cultural Excursion.

The Office of International Programmes and Development (OIPD) at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) recently organised a cultural excursion for international and exchange students as part of activities marking International Day.

The initiative was part of GIMPA’s commitment to providing a holistic study abroad experience by exposing students to Ghana’s rich cultural heritage, history, and contemporary way of life beyond the classroom.

During the excursion, students explored some of Accra’s notable landmarks, visited vibrant local markets, and experienced the unique culture and hospitality for which Ghana is renowned. The tour provided participants with an opportunity to gain deeper insights into the country’s history and traditions while fostering meaningful interactions and cross-cultural exchange.

The excursion also served as a platform for students from diverse backgrounds to strengthen friendships, share experiences, and develop a greater appreciation for Ghanaian culture and society.

Speaking on the significance of the initiative, the Office of International Programmes and Development emphasised the importance of experiential learning in international education. Beyond academic excellence, the Office noted that study abroad programmes should create opportunities for cultural immersion, global awareness, and personal growth, enabling students to develop the intercultural competencies needed to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.

The event highlighted GIMPA’s ongoing efforts to create a welcoming and enriching environment for international students while promoting global citizenship and intercultural understanding across its academic community.

As GIMPA continues to expand its internationalisation agenda, the University remains committed to providing transformative experiences that combine academic learning with cultural engagement, ensuring that students leave with not only valuable knowledge but also lifelong memories and global connections.
