Francis Atsu is a Certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM) and Certified Sustainability and Climate Risk Professional (SCR) by the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) (USA) and an EXIN Agile Scrum Foundation Certified Professional. He holds a PhD in Finance (UK) (Commonwealth Scholar) from Brunel University of London, MSc in Financial Mathematics (Sweden) from Uppsala University and a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics (Ghana) from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He is a creative and solution-driven Risk (including climate change risk) and Financial Analyst with much experience in risk management, investment analysis, data analytics, corporate training and consulting, research and lecturing.
Dr Francis Atsu offers consultancy services for numerous institutions in risk modelling and management, investment appraisal, data analytics, and other allied areas. His recent clients are Ministry of Finance, Bui Power Authority, Broll Ghana Limited, Electricity Company of Ghana, AngloGold Mining Company, USAID, among others.
He is the Chairman of GIMPA’s Enterprise Risk Committee that formulated and implemented enterprise risk management policies for identifying and managing risks inherent in GIMPA’s operations and external factors. He is also a member of GIMPA Board of Trustees that performs fiduciary duties for the GIMPA Occupational Pension (Tier 2) and Provident Fund (Tier 3) schemes. He also a Senior Lecturer in Finance at GIMPA Business School.
Dr Atsu is adept at using the following applications: SAS, PYTHON, MATLAB, R, STATA, EVIEWS, Excel VBA; Power BI (Business Intelligence and Data Visualization Tool). He serves as a referee for top-tier journals (e.g., Journal of the Royal Statistical Society- series A, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of African Business, African Journal of Economic and Management Studies (AJEMS), among others). In 2016, Dr. Atsu was adjudged as the best reviewer by AJEMS.
