I am a Chief Management Consultant in Human Resource Management and Human Resource Development (HRM &HRD) and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management, Ghana (FCIHRM).
I attended the Victoria University of Manchester, England from September 1991, completed in December 1992, and was awarded a Master of Science Degree in Human Resource Development (HRD). Prior to the pursuit of my Master of Science Degree, I attended the University of Ghana from 1975 to 1978 and obtained BA (Hons) 2nd Class Lower Division in Political Science with History.
I have thirty (30) years active and demonstrable practice in Human Resource Management and Development in my working life. I worked as a Public Servant in the Ghana Civil Service from 1972 to 1993 and then joined GIMPA on 18th October 1993 as a Lecturer and rose to the position of Senior Lecturer and Managing Consultant of the GIMPA Consultancy Services. I retired in August 2013 but I have continued to work to date for GIMPA in diverse situations including teaching at the Master’s Degree level.
While working with GIMPA, I straddled between two functional areas namely, the Teaching Faculty and the Consultancy Services. As a Lecturer, I developed or designed various courses or programmes, some of which are still being run at the Institute. I delivered lectures, developed training materials, undertook field trips with participants, supervised project assignments and dissertations of participants at the First Degree and Master’s Degree levels, performed invigilation duties during exams, set and marked examination questions and mid-semester assessments of students and submitted before the deadlines, the requisite grades. In addition to these, I undertook any other assignments allotted to me by GIMPA and its various functional areas.
As a Lecturer I was periodically officially deployed by GIMPA as an HRM and HRD Consultant to undertake Consultancy activities for public and private enterprises or institutions. In the late 2000 when GIMPA Consultancy Services was formally established, I was formally seconded to the Office of the President of Ghana as an HRM Consultant. On my return from the Office of the President in 2003, GIMPA posted me to the Consultancy Services (GCS) Division as Senior Lecturer and Consultant where I worked and rose to the position of Managing Consultant until my retirement.
At the GCS, I developed Technical and Financial Proposals and executed consultancy activities/assignments for both public and private sector institutions and NGOs (Local and International) in several HRM & HRD areas.
As Managing Consultant (Head of the Consultancy Division of GIMPA), I ensured that my team and I achieved the Mandate of the Division in respect of winning jobs and executing same. In addition, during my tenure as Managing Consultant, my team and I introduced innovative competency-based programmes that ultimately improved the finances of the Division specifically and GIMPA generally.
As a practicing consultant, I have worked at various levels and capacities as an HR Consultant/Specialist and Advisor in the following countries: Ghana, Kenya South Africa, Republic of Lesotho, Somaliland, Republic of South Sudan, Liberia, The Gambia and Sierra Leone.
I have excellent (very strong) oral and written communication skills as well as presentation skills. I have excellent interpersonal and people management skills and these have been demonstrated in all the assignments that I have undertaken. I am also proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Searches, E-mail and databases.
My areas of specialisation are: Human Resource Management, Human Resource Development, Leadership and Management, and Health and Safety.
Master’s Level Course, GIMPA Business School, GIMPA, Accra, Ghana
