GIMPA, York University Launch Student Consulting Project with Industry Engagements.

The Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), through its Business School, has launched a collaborative Student Consulting Project with York University, bringing together MBA students from both institutions for hands-on industry experience.

As part of the initiative, students undertook field visits to JL Properties and Endpoint Homoeopathic Clinic, where they engaged directly with business leaders and explored operational realities across sectors.

At JL Properties, Chief Executive Officer Dr. James Orleans-Lindsay welcomed the students and emphasized the importance of practical learning in shaping future business leaders. He noted that such initiatives allow students to move beyond theory and gain valuable insights into real-world business dynamics.

During the visit, the company’s Head of Brands, Mrs. Afriyie Mensah, delivered a presentation outlining JL Properties’ business model and growth strategy. She explained that the company focuses on converting previously unused land into affordable housing developments. According to her, JL Properties has maintained stable pricing over the past nine years, largely due to its capacity to produce most of its building materials in-house; an approach that supports cost efficiency and enables simultaneous development across multiple locations. She also highlighted the company’s strategic acquisition of land banks to sustain future expansion.

At Endpoint Homoeopathic Clinic, founder Dr. Adu Boateng received the delegation and expressed openness to collaboration with the students to drive business growth. He recounted the clinic’s early challenges, particularly regulatory constraints, and noted its ongoing expansion into international markets.

Dr. Boateng explained that the clinic initially relied on religious platforms as a primary marketing channel but has since adopted traditional media to broaden its reach locally and internationally. He further disclosed that the clinic operates a branch in the United Kingdom, currently functioning on an appointment basis due to higher operational costs compared to Ghana.

Students from both institutions welcomed the initiative, describing it as an opportunity to apply academic knowledge to practical business challenges. They expressed confidence in developing innovative strategies to support the partner organizations and enhance productivity and service delivery.

The Student Consulting Project underscores GIMPA Business School’s commitment to bridging the gap between theory and practice, while strengthening international partnerships and equipping students with the competencies required in a global business environment.
