In a dazzling display of innovation and tech prowess, ‘The Tomorrow Team,’ a quartet of dynamic students hailing from diverse academic backgrounds at GIMPA, won the top spot at the GIMPA-Stanbic Hackathon Challenge. Isaac Batsa, the team lead, alongside Michael Anderson are both from the School of Technology and Social Sciences. Michael Dickson Takyi, from the Business School, and Edwin Otabil, from the School of Public Service and Governance, dazzled the judges with their groundbreaking solution, earning them a well-deserved cash prize of GHC10,000. The winning project unveiled by ‘The Tomorrow Team’ tackled a common academic hurdle—helping students who failed in a particular subject to efficiently revisit past questions. Their ingenious approach empowers students to reattempt failed exams without the need to retake the entire course in subsequent semesters. This innovative solution not only promises academic redemption but also signifies a stride towards more efficient and personalised learning methods. The runners-up also showcased their brilliance, with ‘Inno Hive’ securing the 2nd position and an GHC8,000 cash prize, while ‘Tech Titans’ claimed the 3rd spot, taking GHC5,000. The competing teams, namely the Hackathon Sharks and the Green Hack, demonstrated commendable efforts in the prestigious competition, all being students of GIMPA. This captivating event is a collaborative effort between GIMPA and STANBIC Bank Ghana, fostering a unique synergy between student innovators and industry mentors.
Dr. Augustina Akonnor, the Dean of Students and Ag. Deputy Rector of GIMPA, expressed her confidence in the potential of such hackathons to unearth technological solutions that address real-world challenges.
