Honoring a Legacy of Service: GIMPA’s 2026 Valedictory Service.

The Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) recently gathered to celebrate its retiring staff at the 2026 Valedictory Service, marking a profound expression of gratitude for their years of sacrifice, commitment, and hard work. The ceremony underscored that GIMPA’s true strength lies not in its physical buildings or academic frameworks, but in the quality and dedication of its people. The retiring staff, spanning lecturers, administrators, technical officers, and support staff, were all recognised as vital contributors to the institute’s overarching mission of developing human capital. Management specifically commended their perseverance, noting that they successfully steered the institution through difficult periods characterised by limited resources and heavy workloads. Furthermore, their daily efforts extended far beyond the campus walls, actively shaping Ghana’s development and contributing to the wider African continent.

Rather than viewing this transition as the end of a career, Professor Adaklu, standing in for the Rector, framed retirement as the commencement of a vibrant new chapter. Retirees were warmly encouraged to prioritise their health, spend quality time with their families, and pursue personal passions. Most importantly, they were reminded that they remain a permanent part of the GIMPA family and were urged to serve as proud ambassadors, sharing the institute’s story wherever their new journeys take them.

The valedictory service also served as a powerful call to action for current and future GIMPA staff, who were challenged to uphold the impressive legacy left behind by the outgoing personnel. The remaining community was urged to draw direct inspiration from the diligence and humility of the retiring cohort, cultivating an environment where excellence is an institutional habit rather than an occasional achievement. Finally, current employees were reminded to treat all students and clients with the utmost dignity and respect, collaborating constructively to ensure GIMPA continues to meet the highest ethical and professional standards well into the future.
