The GIMPA Hub for Teaching and Learning, under the leadership of its Head, Dr. Joseph Budu, will host the first in a series of webinars exploring the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education. The webinar is scheduled for Tuesday, 2 September 2025.

The event forms part of an international research initiative supported by the Academy of Management (AoM), awarded to Dr. Budu and his collaborators: Mrs. Eleanor Akoto, Lecturer at Central University, and Dr. Emmanuel Antwi-Boasiako, Senior Lecturer at GIMPA’s School of Technology and Social Sciences.

The project, titled “Measuring the Impact of AI Feedback on Student Metacognition and Learning Approaches,” examines how AI-driven tools can support or challenge the way students reflect on their own learning and engage more deeply with academic material. By focusing on metacognition, the study seeks to provide insights into how AI may be harnessed not simply as a technological aid, but as a pedagogical partner.

According to Dr. Budu, “AI is already reshaping the way students learn and how educators teach. This project is about understanding those changes and guiding institutions to make informed, responsible choices that benefit both learners and teachers.”

The upcoming webinar will introduce the project, outline its objectives, and open the floor to dialogue among educators, researchers, and policymakers who are navigating AI’s growing role in higher education.
