PROF. SAMUEL FAMIYEH Dean, GIMPA Business School. Prof. Samuel Famiyeh attended the Ghana Secondary Technical School, Takoradi, for his Ordinary Level Certificate and Tarkwa Secondary School, Tarkwa, for his Advanced Level Certificate. After completion, he then proceeded to the then University of Science and Technology, (UST), now Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where he graduated with a BSc (Hons) Geological Engineering.
After his BSc, he got an appointment with Premier Gold Resources, where he was employed as an exploration Geologist. After working with Premier Gold for a year, he worked with different exploration companies such as Golden Rule Resources, Joset Mining company, and Conquest exploration company. After working with these exploration companies for about two years, Famiyeh got the opportunity to work as a grade control and exploration Geologist with two operating mines, Billiton Bogoso Gold and Goldfields Ghana Limited, all in the Western Region of Ghana. After working as, a Geologist for four years in the mining sector in Ghana, Famiyeh gained an admission at the Technical University of Mining and Technology – TU Freiberg, (TUBAF), in Germany, to study an MBA in Resources and Environment.

After his MBA studies, he was advised by his supervisor to further his studies in the same university to pursue pursue further research studies leading to the award of a PhD in environmental management Famiyeh, had the chance to teach a course in Natural Resource Economics whiles he was doing his PhD.
After his PhD, he returned from Germany and got an appointment as a lecturer at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). Initially, he was with the GIMPA Public Services School(GPSS), now school of Public Services and Governance(SPSG). He was the coordinator for the Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental Management.
In August 1, 2007, famiyeh was transferred to the GIMPA Business School since the school had a need for lecturers in my areas of expertise (project and operations management) and also a need for more Ph.D. holders at the School as required by the National Accreditation Board (NAB). now GTEC.
Through diligence, hard work, commitment to service and discipline, Famiyeh is currently a Professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management with the Institute and also the Dean of the Business School. In terms of teaching, Famiyeh have been teaching courses related to operations, supply chain and project management and Environmental management and Sustainability at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
For service, Prof. Famiyeh have served on a number of important committees – both internally and externally. Internally, Prof. have been a member and a former Chairman of the Academic Planning Committee of the Business School over the years. And have also been a member and chairman of the Appointments and Promotion committee over the past years at the Business School
Externally, Prof. is an external examiner for the Department of Material Science, Logistics, Supply Chain and Information Systems and Department of Building and Construction, all of KNUST. Famiyeh is also the current Chairman of the Governing Council of the Enchi College of Education, Enchi, in the Western North Region of Ghana.
In terms of scholarship, Famiyeh I have published over forty (40) articles in internationally recognized and top-ranked peer review journals, delivered over eighteen (18) international and local conference presentations, developed over 20 technical papers, and have mentored a number of junior faculty members in the area of research to be promoted to the rank of senior lecturers.
Through dedication, commitment and hard work, Famiyeh have been able to go through the ranks from a Lecturer to a Professor, what we are witnessing today
Famiyeh’s scholarly activities focuses on environmental impacts of manufacturing and services operations, service quality, corporate social responsibility initiatives, supply chain effectiveness, project risk and stakeholder issues. So far, Famiyeh has published over 40 articles in internationally ranked journals. Prof. Famiyeh’s publications can be found in journals such as the Journal of Economic Geology, International Journal of Quality and Reliability Management (IJQRM), International Journal of Manufacturing Technology and Management (JMTM), International Journal of Performance and Productivity Management IJPPM), Global Responsibility Journal (GRJ), The IMRE Journal, GIMPA Journal of Leadership, Management, and Administration, International Journal of Services and Standards and the Journal of Sustainable Development.

It is important to state that in two conservative years 2018/2019, I Famiyeh won one of the merits and prestigious research awards – Literati by the Journal of Engineering, Design and Technology (JEDT), and Journal of Quality in Maintenance Engineering (JQME) both journals published by Emerald Publications, UK.
