GHANA INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT AND PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION (GIMPA)

In a ceremonious event, the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) officially welcomed its new batch of freshmen who were admitted in September this year. The matriculation ceremony, a significant rite of passage, was conducted by Dr. (Mrs.) Victoria M. Kunbour, the Secretary of the Institute. This solemn occasion marked the students’ induction as junior members of the Institute. The event was not only physical but also inclusive of virtual participation from the Kumasi and Takoradi satellite campuses of the Institute, reflecting the adaptability of the Institute to contemporary modes of engagement. The diverse academic pursuits of the freshmen span across four schools—Business School, School of Public Service and Governance, the School of Technology and Social Sciences and the Law School. The Ag. Deputy Rector and Dean of Students, Dr. Augustina Akonnor extended a warm welcome to the students. Her assurance of GIMPA’s commitment to excellence resonated with the institute’s ethos, setting the tone for a promising academic journey. Rector, Prof. Samuel Kwaku Bonsu’s address emphasized the reciprocal choice made by both the students and the Institute to contribute to each other’s development. His commitment to providing a conducive environment for learning was evident, coupled with a call for active participation and collaboration between faculty and students. The Rector’s guidance extended beyond academic pursuits, urging students to cultivate relationships and networks that could serve as potential catalysts for future opportunities. Notably, the emphasis on combating sexual harassment was a testament to GIMPA’s commitment to creating a safe and inclusive learning environment. The students, in turn, expressed their expectations, emphasizing essential elements such as a well-stocked library, reliable internet access, and a conducive learning environment. Their pledge to adhere to the Institute’s rules and regulations showcased a collective commitment to achieving academic excellence. As this new academic year unfolds, it is evident that GIMPA is not just an institute of learning but a dynamic community fostering growth, collaboration, and a commitment to excellence. The matriculation ceremony serves as a foundational milestone, marking the beginning of a transformative educational journey for the freshmen.
