Mr. Solomon Asante-Dartey

Director, Information Management Services

Mr. Solomon Asante-Dartey has since September 2020 been the Director of Information Management Services (IMS) of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). Solomon holds a Master’s degree in Software Systems Technology from the University of Sheffield, UK and has been certified by the International Business Innovation Association (InBIA), USA in the management of Business Incubation programmes and Technology parks. He is also certified in various Microsoft and other enterprise solutions including SunSystems, Vision, Citrix and Oracle.
Solomon has over 22 years of extensive experience in ICT consultancy, project management and business development which is invaluable to the role he currently plays within the team. He is managing the entire IT infrastructure, strategy, policies and software systems, ensuring excellence in the delivery of IT services across all campuses of the university. He also oversees the identification and evaluation of new and innovative technologies and their appropriate adoption and applications as well as potential impact on the university. This includes defining and implementing procedures, enforcing standards and policies for use of these IT applications in teaching, learning, research and the overall student lifecycle administration.
Prior to taking this appointment, Solomon worked in ICT management and leadership for several reputable organizations, including: the University of Ghana as the Deputy Chief Information Technology Officer (IT Services), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as programme coordinator for their ICT Entrepreneurship initiative under the government’s ICT for Accelerated Development (ICT4AD) Programme, the Ghana Multimedia Incubator Center (GMIC) under the Ministry of Communications as Director of the technology business incubator, and KPMG as senior consultant and Manager for the Information Risk Management and Advisory Services Unit.
His areas of expertise include: Information Risk Management, re-engineering of information processes, computer systems audit, system design and development, evaluation and selection of software packages and platforms, IT strategy development, project management, Information security management; training of system support / user staff, Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), planning and the management of Business incubation programmes and technology parks. Solomon led the setup of the first government ICT business incubator that focuses on the identification of innovative ICT ideas and their commercialization into working solutions.
Solomon understands the vision and business at hand, and he brings a proven reputation in leadership, management, directing, mentoring and motivating various teams as well as building effective relationships between senior management, business users and technical stakeholders to achieve results. His hobbies include swimming and sightseeing.
